A meeting about the past, the present and the future: the role of geoscience in the study of the global changes and the connection with other disciplines.
Earth scientist must continue to make breakthrough discoveries on how Earth responds to climate forcing so that climate models can be rigorously validated and refined and reasonable future scenarios on environmental evolution can be proposed and related mitigation plans adopted. Since the Earth responds to most this forcing over time scales that exceed the length of the weather measurements, the study of the past is of crucial importance. The study of the global changes has moved rapidly from an academic world to being an integral part of major debates on future policies for mitigation or adapting, for instance, to climate changes. However, Earth science needs to face continuously with different disciplines like social sciences to understand what can be profitably learned from the past. This meeting, open to phD students, undergraduate students, researchers, teachers of different paleoscience fields wants to give a view of the role of the geosciences in the study different aspects of the “Global Changes” and the integrating role of different fields
The Organizing committee: Luca Pandolfi, Roberto Santacroce, Giovanni Zanchetta
