Convegni e Incontri
17/09/2012 - 20/09/2012
14th Biennial Conference ERB 2012

Conference on  Studies of Hydrological Processes in Research Basins:

Current Challenges and Prospects

St. Petersburg

Russia  September 17-20, 2012

Convened by:

  • ERB Steering Committee

In cooperation with

  • IHP UNESCO EURO FRIEND Project 5
  • State Hydrological Institute, St .Petersburg
  • Russian IHP Committee and Roshydromet
  • German IHP-HWRP Committee

Solutions of many hydrological issues are based on knowledge gained in small research basins (Braunschweig Declaration).

While some hydrological and ecologically related problems have become urgent only recently, others have been permanently under the observation of the hydrological community. Changes affecting the hydrological cycle, resulting from environmental changes caused by climatic fluctuations and human activities, represent issues of increasing importance. Hydrological modelling, forecasting and computation of hydrological characteristics in ungauged basins are of permanent relevance. Even if they are of highest interest, the interactions of surface and ground waters remain rather poorly known to date. All of these issues will be discussed during the conference. More specifically, the sessions will cover the following topics:

  • Uncertainties in surface and ground water interactions.
  • Сhanges in hydrological regimes  resulting from climate variations and human impacts.
  • Current state, problems and perspectives of hydrological modelling.
  • Study of runoff formation in research basins and the transfer of results to ungauged basins.
  • New methods for water balance components measurements.
  • Open session on hydrological and ecologically related research in small basins.

Call for abstracts

Participants who wish to contribute to the conference are invited to submit an extended abstract in English (max 4 А4 pages), indicating their preference for oral or poster presentation before March 2012. Abstract forms are available on the conference website
