PhD and Postdoc positions in geomechanical numerical modelling
PROJECT B - 3D absolute stress state of the Alberta Basin, Canada. The project is part of the Helmholtz Alberta Initiative (HAI) that aims to intensify the research collaboration with the University of Alberta, Edmonton, particularly in the areas of Energy and Earth and Environment. One key project of HAI is the assessment of the geothermal energy potential in the Alberta Basin. Within this topic knowledge of the 3D absolute crustal stress state is a pre-requisite to assess the productivity of a future reservoir, the stability of the drilling and planning of reservoir stimulation.

Phd and postdoc positions in Earth Sciences/Geophysics: 15 positions for the Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) TOPOMOD "Sculpting the Earth's topography: insights from modelling deep–surface processes".
TOPOMOD (Sculpting the Earth's topography: insights from modelling deep–surface processes) is a Marie Curie Initial Training Networl in the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission. Its aim is research and training to investigate and modeling origin and evolution of topography of the continents over a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. The 4-year project started on January 1, 2011. The network is coordinated by the Department of Geology of the University "Roma TRE",
Italy.
The TOPOMOD network offer 13 Ph.D. and 2 post-doc positions in various fields of Earths Sciences, combining geophysics, geochemistry, tectonics and structural geology with advanced geodynamic modelling. The network organizes yearly open research-and-training workshops and special session at international meetings.Positions are available in 8 partner institutions within Europe, including Italy (Università "Roma Tre"), the Netherlands (VU-University Amsterdam, The Netherlands), Germany (Helmholtz-Zentrum, Potsdam), Switzerland (Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule, Zurich), United Kingdom (University of Durham and University
of Cambridge), France (University of Rennes I). Spain (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, Barcelona). The network is completed by the active collaboration of 1 research institution (CNR-Italy), 3 high-technology enterprises (Malvern Instruments, G.O. Logical Consulting, TNO) and 1 large multinational oil/gas company (ENI). The fellows will work in their host institute with tight collaboration with other partner institutes in the network.
TOPOMOD fellows receive a Marie Curie salary. Salaries are complemented by substantial support for mobility, career development and travel.

Premio di Laurea Fondazione Geology 2011 alla memoria di Francesco Ricci
Nel CdA del 25 febbraio u.s. con Delibera N. 3/11 la Fondazione Geology Onlus ha istituito un premio di laurea annuale del valore di € 1.500,00 (millecinquecento/00), o di valore superiore per un importo massimo di € 2.500,00 (duemilacinquecento/00 ) (nel secondo caso solo se viene scelta l’opzione di accettare l’iscrizione ad un Master di II livello, individuato dalla Fondazione sulla base dell’ambito stabilito).
Il premio potrà essere assegnato ad uno dei seguenti laureati:
Laurea specialistica (D.M. 509/99) nella classe:
• 82/S (Scienze tecnologie per l'ambiente e territorio)
• 85/S (Scienze geofisiche)
• 86/S (Scienze geologiche)
Laurea magistrale (D.M. 270/04) nella classe:
• L M – 74 (Scienze e tecnologie geologiche)
• L M - 75 (Scienze tecnologie per l'ambiente e territorio)
• L M - 79 (Scienze geofisiche)
Laurea vecchio ordinamento in:
• Scienze geologiche
• Ingegneria mineraria
che abbia discusso una tesi di laurea sperimentale, le cui risultanze siano direttamente ed immediatamente applicabili nel seguente ambito:
“Caratterizzazione e tecnologie per la bonifica dei siti inquinati”
Il premio sarà dedicato alla memoria del geologo abruzzese Francesco Ricci prematuramente scomparso nel 2006.
