Phd and postdoc positions in Earth Sciences/Geophysics: 15 positions for the Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) TOPOMOD "Sculpting the Earth's topography: insights from modelling deep–surface processes".

 

TOPOMOD (Sculpting the Earth's topography: insights from modelling deep–surface processes) is a Marie Curie Initial Training Networl in the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission. Its aim is research and training to investigate and modeling origin and evolution of topography of the continents over a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. The 4-year project started on January 1, 2011. The network is coordinated by the Department of Geology of the University "Roma TRE",
Italy.

The TOPOMOD network offer 13 Ph.D. and 2 post-doc positions in various fields of Earths Sciences, combining geophysics, geochemistry, tectonics and structural geology with advanced geodynamic modelling. The network organizes yearly open research-and-training workshops and special session at international  meetings.Positions are available in 8 partner institutions within Europe, including Italy (Università "Roma Tre"), the Netherlands (VU-University Amsterdam, The Netherlands), Germany (Helmholtz-Zentrum, Potsdam), Switzerland (Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule, Zurich), United Kingdom (University of Durham and University
of Cambridge), France (University of Rennes I). Spain (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, Barcelona). The network is completed by the active collaboration of 1 research institution (CNR-Italy), 3 high-technology enterprises (Malvern Instruments, G.O. Logical Consulting, TNO) and 1 large multinational oil/gas company (ENI). The fellows will work in their host institute with tight collaboration with other partner institutes in the network.
TOPOMOD fellows receive a Marie Curie salary. Salaries are complemented by substantial support for mobility, career development and travel.
