Dear colleagues

We encourage you to present your work at the following session: TS13-1
"Tectonism, Volcanism and Faulting throughout the Solar System: from Earth analogues to outer icy bodies" at EGU GENERAL ASSEMBLY (23-28 April 2023)

Tectonism, volcanism and faulting are the main constructive agents in shaping the planetary surfaces of the Solar System and provide  precious information about planetary interiors and evolution. They can be driven by endogenous processes or external triggers such as impact events and tidal forces and are associated to an enormous variety of landforms and structures. Even small bodies such as asteroids and comets, where volcanism and tectonism have not played a dominant role, are still affected by fracturing and faulting as a result of other processes like tides, dynamic loading, gravitational collapses. The study of such geological processes involves many scientific disciplines including remote sensing observation, experimental and numerical modelling, geological mapping, geophysics, petrography and petrology, rheological and geomechanical studies and field analogue investigations.
This session aims at encompassing the broad range in character of tectonism, faulting and volcanism and their interactions on Solar System bodies appraised under the light of our current understanding of comparable processes on Earth.
