Carissimi Associati SGI,
Carissimi Soci Società Associate,
su indicaizone del Dott. Cristian Carli (INAF), vi inoltriamo il seguente messaggio relativo al seminario intitolato "Origin of Lunar Water and its Role in Enabling Sustainable Solar System Exploration", che si terrà il 21 maggio alle ore 14:30.
Cordiali saluti,
La Segreteria
Dear colleagues and students,
We are pleased to announce to you the invitation to the next Rome Joint Astrophysics Colloquium (JAC) on Wednesday the May, 21st at 14:30 CEST.
Join in person in room IB09 at the IAPS-INAF, in the Area di ricerca di Tor Vergata, ArToV, or online with the Zoom App at link: https://rebrand.ly/JAC-Anand.
After the seminar, we will meet for a short coffee break for people attending in presence.
The Rome JAC is a joint initiative of the Physics Dept. of the Tor Vergata University of Rome, INAF - Astronomical Observatory of Rome, and INAF - Institute for Space Astrophysics and Planetology.
TITLE: Origin of Lunar Water and its Role in Enabling Sustainable Solar System Exploration
SPEAKER: Prof. Mahesh Anand (Open University, UK)
ABSTRACT: The presence of water on the Moon and in lunar samples has emerged as one of the most exciting discoveries in recent times. Multiple sources are believed to have contributed to the lunar water inventory. Understanding the origin of lunar water holds significance that transcends scientific, technological, and societal domains. The Moon is becoming a favourite target for both established and emerging space-faring nations as well as commercial entities. In addition to national pride and scientific curiosity, the resurgence in lunar exploration is driven by a growing recognition of the Moon as a technology testbed for exploring more distant bodies within the Solar System. In this talk, I will outline our pioneering research which contributed to the discovery of water on the Moon and is shaping a vision for the future, envisioning a sustainable human presence on the lunar surface, largely facilitated by the in-situ use of resources, including water.
Poster of the event is available at: JAC-Anand-poster
Please advertise the seminar to people that could be interested to join.
