Hello, listeners,

The latest episode is about continental rifting with Folarin Kolawole, Assistant Professor at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University.

I've always thought that the rifting of continents is a really counterintuitive notion.  Continents are so thick, after all.  But it turns out that they are not always that strong.  After teasing out the various early stages of rifting with Folarin Kolawole and invoking plumes and far-field forces at opposite ends of the continental plates, the process makes more sense to me.  Perhaps, after listening, it will for you too.
