Call for abstracts Session GM2.7 "Earthcasting: from climate data analysis to forecasts of hydrogeomorphic processes and topographic changes"

Dear colleagues,

We are excited to present this EGU session at the interface of geomorphology and climate:

GM2.7: Earthcasting: from climate data analysis to forecasts of hydrogeomorphic processes and topographic changes

The session aims to gather information and share knowledge on methodologies for harnessing the recent revolution in climate and topographic data availability for hydrogeomorphic applications. Participants will especially discuss and explore links between atmospheric forcing and hydrogeomorphic processes in the context of "Earthcasting", namely, forecasting testable hydrogeomorphic and topographic changes under various changing conditions.

We welcome contributions presenting novel theoretical, conceptual, and computational approaches that integrate climate processes and datasets (observations, past reconstructions, model simulations, etc.) with hydrogeomorphic processes and topographic changes (measurements, model simulations, etc.). Topics include changes across timescales, from discrete events to long-term climatic trends and paleoclimate, and near-surface hydrological and geomorphic processes, such as river delta and coastal evolution, hillslope failures, fluvial, glacial, and periglacial dynamics, wildfire-driven erosion, soil loss. Our focus also extends to studies on changes in near-surface hydrological properties, ecosystems, and their linkages.
